To know that plants are living things
To be able to identify and label the roots, stem, leaves and flower on a plant
To be able to identify the roots, trunk and leaves of a tree
To be able to name and identify some common UK plants
To know how to plant a flowering plant.

To be able to name some of the plants located within the school grounds.
Key vocabulary for Autumn 1:
Flower – the bloom or blossom of a plant.
Leaf – a part of a plant attached to a stem resembling a flat structure.
Stem – the main structure that supports leaves and flowers.
Roots – a part of a plant that is usually hidden underground. Roots hold the plant in the ground and keep it upright.
Living thing – a thing that can move, using their own energy.
Bulb – a name given to the underground bud or stem of a seed plant at resting stage.
