LEARNING to make a difference

Week 8

Week 8 Science Task

LO: To know how the circulatory system works.

Have you ever heard of the word circulation? Circulation means the movement of something from/to somewhere. Have a look at this diagram of a body that has different coloured lines around the body that signify the circulatory system. What do you think these lines may represent?

The most important part of the circulatory system is the heart and it is split into two sections. As you may already know, the heart is protected by the lungs. Can you point to the heart and the lungs?

The heart pumps blood to the lungs to get oxygen, before spreading this oxygenated blood around the body causing a pulse. Can you put two fingers on your wrist or your neck and feel your pulse?

Now find the arteries, veins and capillaries and have a read of their functions. Does anything surprise you about these?
