LEARNING to make a difference

# Week 3

Task 1: To know how to use and apply knowledge of my times tables.

For the first task, you must use the place value grid to practice multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. For the second task, I would like you to choose either the 6, 7 or 8 times tables and practice multiplying and dividing.

Task 2: To know how to multiply three digits by one digit.

I would like you to use the short method for multiplication to work out the answers to these calculations. Remember, we use the short method when we are only multiplying by one digit. Here is a step by step guide just in case you need a little reminder!!

Example: 342 x 5.

Now try these:

1. 564 x 6
2. 234 x 8
3. 873 x 4
4. 285 x 9
5. 395 x 3

Task 3: To know how to multiply 4 digits by 1 digit.

Yesterday we looked at the short method for multiplication. Now have a go at applying the same method to multiplying 4 digits by 1 digit.

1. 7364 x 3
2. 2697 x 8
3. 2859 x 9
4. 8596 x 4
5. 3967 x 5
