This week in Maths we are going to continue learning about counting and comparing to order numbers and find 1 more and 1 less.

 

Above is a 100 square which can help you with your counting.

 

Activity 1

Using the 100 square:

  1. Count forwards from 87 to 94.
  2. Count backwards from 83 to 72.
  3. Write down all of the numbers that go between 67 and 72.
  4. Find what number comes between 66 and 68.

When we order numbers, we use the different words below to describe them:

Here I have ordered the number of beads from most to least.

 

Now make yourself 3 different numbers and try ordering them from most to least like in my example.

Try ordering these pictures in the same way:

Using the 100 square to find a number that is:

  1. greater than 89>
  2. less than <75
  3. greater than 75 >but less than <89

 

 

Activity 2

Finding 1 more and less than a number of objects:

When adding 1 more, move an object into the group, like in the pictures above.

When finding 1 less, move an object out of the start group like in the pictures below.

Try using objects to make the numbers below and add 1 more to them and take 1 from them like in my examples.
