Year 1 – Writing Task 1

Remember to complete the Grammar task before you start the writing tasks.

 

Using the picture and the word bank below, complete my sentences by copying them out in your neatest handwriting and making compound words.

You can write your own sentence instead or make mine more interesting using adjectives.

Read this poem called ‘Water’ by Shirley Hughes.

1)    Find all of the words that describe what the water is like. 
2)    Think of some words to describe ‘Summer Days’ and write them down. Use the picture that follows and my examples to help you.  


 

Year 1 – Writing Task 3

Remember to complete the Grammar task before you start the writing tasks.

Using the ideas from the ‘Water’ poem and Tasks 1 and 2, write a poem about ‘Summer Days’.

Here is my example:

 

Summer Days

I like summer days.

The scorching, hot and glistening kind.

The eat lots of ice-cream kind.

Splashing at the seashore.

Listening to the seashells.

I do love summer days.

 

Use my example. Change the words that are underlined and put in your own ideas to make a new poem.
