Draw a ‘noughts and crosses’ board like in the example below, then write a word with the ‘ai’ spelling in each of the spaces.
Take it in turns to read a word then place a counter (or anything you can find to cover the word) over the word. The first to have three words in a row covered is the winner.
Write some ‘ai’ words on the ground, aim and throw a pebble or a stick to land on a word then sound it out and read it. Alternatively, write the words on paper and stick them up outside and using a water pistol/old washing up bottle, then read a word and squirt it with water.
