In Autumn 1, we learnt all about ELECTRICITY!
-To know which common appliances require electricity to function.
-To know how to construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts.
-To know how to identify whether or not a lamp will light in a simple circuit.
-To know the dangers of electricity and how to keep safe.
-To know that a switch opens and closes a circuit.
-To know which materials are conductors and insulators.
Can you remember which of the following materials are conductors and which are insulators?
In Autumn 2, we learnt about SOUND.
-To know how sounds are made.
-To know whether sounds can travel through different materials.
-To know how to explore the relationship between distance and volume.
-To know that some materials are effective in preventing vibrations from sound sources reaching the ear.
-To know how to investigate the different pitches and volumes of sounds.
-To know how the length, thickness and tightness of a string affects its pitch.
In the final week of our topic, we created our own mini guitars to impress Dudley! We impressed Dudley with our knowledge of pitch and volume. We now know that the thinner the string on a guitar, the higher the pitch produced.
This term, we will be learning about animals including humans. I am just as excited as you are!
