    Computing

In computing, we looked at using the BBC Microbits to create code and images on our microbits. We got to tinker with them and had to debug them when we found any mistakes!

    Fire Safety Centre

We visited the Fire Safety Centre this week and were able to look at all the different ways to stay safe if there is a fire and how to spot hazards around the house.

We got to dress up as fire fighters which was super fun!

Here we got to spot different hazards that had been left in a house. We learnt that charging things like phones and e-scooters over night can very dangerous and e-scooters should be charged outside as they are big fire hazards!

During this part of our tour, we got to listen to some 999 calls and we even heard a hoax call. This is where someone calls up even though there is no fire, we found out that doing this can put people's lives in danger as you could be potentially taking away fire fighters from a real fire!

We then got to watch how a fire can spread really quickly when more oxygen is added to a fire.

This is the fire triangle, can you remember the 3 key components to a fire and answer these true or false questions?

We had a great day at the Safety Centre and learnt lots of information about fires and keeping safe!

    Viking Experience

This week we had a Viking experience where we got to go to battle and fight like real Vikings. We learnt about the Viking gods and what they would have been like in battle.

    Cracking Computing

This week in computing we have been looking at how to crack codes and why creating strong passwords are important. We have also been looking at the history of computers and how Bletchley Park was crucial in the development of the computer.

    Measuring in Maths

This week in maths we have been looking at measurements and converting between units. Some of us measured different objects and converted them to other units of measurement.

    Magazine Features

We looked at the different features of a magazine article to help us with our informal questions to Romeo in English.

    Our Christmas Carol Service

This year we performed our carol service to our grown ups and even performed using our ukuleles.

    Fun with Fractions in Maths

This week in maths we have been looking at fractions and adding and subtracting them. We have been playing four in a row and snakes and ladders trying to beat our partners at adding and subtracting fractions!

    Science Experiments

We have been looking at light in science and this week we were focusing on shadows and how the distance a light source is from an object impacts the size.

    Djembe Drumming

We were very lucky that this week we had MAPAS in to do some Djembe drumming. The djembe drum is indigenous to West Africa which is the location we are looking at this term in history with the Ancient Kingdom of Benin.
