    Our Phonics Learning

    In Nursery we focus on the Little Wandle Letters and sounds scheme. This prepares the children for phase 2 phonics which the children will start in Reception. In September the children will begin listening and attention games, and once we feel the children are ready, we will start our foundations for phonics. This includes a balance of child-led and adult-led experiences. 

    These include:

    • sharing high-quality stories and poems
    • learning a range of nursery rhymes and action rhymes
    • activities that develop focused listening and attention
    • attention to high-quality language 
    • Oral blending
