    W/C 9/03/2026

    This week we have been reading Jasper's Beanstalk. We have made beanstalks using craft materials, playdough and using our fine motor skills to make beanstalks using pipe cleaners. We have planted beans and have been observing them for any changes. It has also been science week. We had a visiting scientist who taught us all about the life cycle of a butterfly.

    This week we have been reading the book Titch. We have been looking at plants, drawing them, making them and planting seeds. We planted a lupin seed and took them home. We have kept one in school to care for and watch it grow. It was also World Book Day but we had so much fun Mrs Holleran forgot to take pictures!

    This half term we are learning all about growing.

    This week we have been reading 'Oliver's Vegetables'. We have looked at where vegetables grow, what they need to grow and what different vegetables look like. In continuous provision we have: 

    -cut vegetables (both real and wooden)

    - printed with potatoes

    -made vegetable soup in the water area

    - designed healthy meals

    - made vegetables out of playdough

    This week we have been learning all about emergency vehicles. We have made emergency vehicles and even become fire fighters in the water area. 
    We also shared a maths breakfast with our grown ups.

    This week we have been reading 'Bear on a Bike'. We have been doing all things bicycle related!

    This week we have been reading 'The Train Ride'. We have made trains in the playdough and craft area and explored the forces we can feel using magnets.


    w/c 19/01/2026

     

    This week we have been reading the story 'Mr Gumpy's Motor Car'. We have been learning about car journeys and talking about the car journeys we have been on. We looked at a map and a globe to see the countries we could drive to. In continuous provision, we have washed cars, made tyre tracks in paint and sand, acted out the story using our small world characters, made cars in the playdough area and built garages in the construction area. We have also been learning all about numbers 1–3 and showing these quantities using our fingers. 


     

     

     

     

    W/C 12/01/2026

    This week we have been reading the text 'Naughty Bus' and looking at buses as part of our transport topic. We have read the story and built a track for our bus. We have drawn pictures of buses and made buses in the creative area. In the playdough area, we have made playdough buses. The construction toys have been used to build bus stations. The children have had a fabulous week learning all about buses.

    We have been busy this week. We have started our new 'transport' topic with the book 'Rosie's Walk'. We have been on a walk around school, made footprints, retold the story and developed our positional language in maths. We've also continued to work on our turn taking. What a busy first week back!

    We have had a lovely festive week in nursery. We had a great time at our Christmas party and a special visitor made an appearance.

    What an exciting week we have had! We had our Christmas lunch and even met two of Santa's reindeer!

    This week the children have been learning all about their environment and where they live. We also decorated our classroom ready for Christmas and took part in a Freddie Fit fitness session.

    Continuing on our topic 'All About Me', the children have been learning about friendship and what makes a good friend.

    This week we have been learning all about our families.

    Thus week we have been reading the book 'Things I like'. We have discussed our favourite things. We have read our favourite books, sang our favourite songs and made our favourite food using playdough.

    This half term our topic is 'All about me'. The children have engaged in activities relating to themselves. They have created self-portraits out of playdough, autumn leaves and using pencils.

    This week we have been learning about the nursery rhyme 'If you're happy and you know it.'


     

     

    w/c 13/10/2025

    This week we have been learning about and engaging with activities relating to the nursery rhyme 'Mary, Mary quite contrary.' We have potted plants, printed flowers using cardboard tubes, coloured flowers and made playdough flowers. We also went on a flower hunt in the school grounds.

    This week we have been learning all about the nursery rhyme. We have been playing doctors, washing dolls and making Miss Polly in the playdough area.
