LEARNING to make a difference

Friday 8th January

Starter Task

Main Task

Yesterday, you completed using brackets for parenthesis.

Today, I would like you practice using dashes for parenthesis.

Remember that parenthesis is when you can add a word, phrase or a clause to a sentence to provide more information.

When the extra information is removed, the sentence must still make sense.

For example:

* Buddy my Golden Retriever loves to play fetch with a ball.

* The shop which was at the end of the cobbled street had a doll in the window.

The dashes need to look like the ones in red above and need to go around the extra information.

Please complete page 49 in your KS2 English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling book.
