Year 6-Chestnut

Year 6 - Chestnut

Welcome to the wonderful world of Year 6, where we work hard, achieve our best, but most of all have fun.

We are so excited to begin our Year 6 learning journey with you, which will include venturing through the Rocky Mountains, the ancient kingdom of Benin and the magical world of Oz. You will take on missions with Bear Grylls, become spies like James Bond and have the opportunity to become extreme thrill-seekers on our fun-filled trips. Whilst Year 6 can seem daunting, due to the challenges of SATs and the transition to high school, you can rest assured that we will be preparing and supporting you every step of the way.

Remember – you are awesome and amazing and together we are going to make some fantastic memories.

We look forward to welcoming you into the Year 6 building and we hope you have a fabulous summer.

Important Information

  • Your child must wear correct school uniform every day.
  • Instead of completing project books, Year 6 will be given a piece of Maths and Grammar homework every Wednesday, which will be based on our current learning. All homework is expected to be completed and handed in on the following Tuesday. Children will earn raffle tickets for each piece to win prizes at the end of the half-term. If children need support with their homework, please ask them to come and see us on a Friday or a Monday.
  • P.E. is on Wednesday and children should come to school wearing the correct school P.E. kit on this day. White top, black shorts/leggings/tracksuit bottoms, school jumper and trainers/pumps. Football kits, hoodies and colourful outfits are not allowed. Please ensure that your child removes any earrings for P.E. and any long hair is tied back.
  • Your child will receive login credentials to access the Learn with Parents reading platform. On this platform, you will be able to record your child’s reading completed at home. Please note that this platform will be checked daily, and children are expected to read three times per week. At the end of each half term, when your child has read at least three times per week, they will receive a reading prize to celebrate their positive effort and commitment.

Thank you for your support with this.
