Rowan 2's Learning Journey


This week, Year 5 have spent a lot of time creating their own music for specific genres, debugging codes and evaluating each other's soundtracks! I have heard some fabulous music created by Rowan 2.

 

 

A fabulous first week back to Summer 2, and another great session with Commando Craig where the children have been taking part in more team-building activities. The aim of the game is to knock over their opponents' tower they built with a tennis ball! 
 

 

 

 

Year 5 have had Freddie Fit in this week, they have all enjoyed their session and worked well together in the activities! Well done year 5. 
 

 

Year 5 have had a busy week this week, making circuits to find the best conductors and publishing their independent write in English. 

 

 

This week, Year 5 have been working with Comando Craig using team building exercises to build upon their communication skills, team work skills and their resilience. Everyone is loving working with Comando Craig. 
 

This week Rowan 2 enjoyed an Anglo-Saxon wet felting workshop. This consisted of pulling wool apart and layering it on top of each other vertically, then horizontally. The children then had to design their own Anglo-Saxon shield on top of it. After that, children had to soak their felt in soapy water and roll it to create their masterpiece!

World Book Day 2026

This week, all KS2 children took part in an interactive online safety assembly and then all Year 4 and Year 5 classes had individual workshops looking at how to stay safe online.

This week in science, Year 5 had an exciting time exploring the different phases of the moon. They even got creative and made their very own moon phases using Oreos!

 

Year 5 has been having a great time with their exciting new book, Compton Valence: Powerfullest Boy in the Universe. This story takes them on an amazing adventure that sparks their imagination!


 

 

Year 5 had an exciting afternoon crafting their final pieces, all inspired by the amazing Amazon Rainforest!

Christmas Performance 

This week, year 5 have worked hard to explore different painting techniques using different types of paint. This week, Year 5 has put in a lot of effort to learn about various painting techniques using different types of paint.


This week, Year 5 have been exploring geography by revisiting 4 and 6 figure grid references. The students had a great time using festive worksheets to search for various Christmas symbols on their maps. It was a fun way to learn and celebrate the season!

 

 

Year 5 engaged in an exploration activity during their English lesson as they prepared for their new topic on the Amazon Rainforest.

Year 5 has been diving into the exciting world of forces in Science! They have been conducting various experiments to discover and explore the different types of forces at work. It's been a fun journey of learning and discovery!
