Maple 2's learning journey

Year Three

English

Today, we received a letter from Boudicca. The children wrote a letter back, promising to remember Boudicca's story and understand why she might be Britain's first British hero.

Science week

The children had a fantastic time in their Science workshop this week. They learnt about rocks and the Earth and even made sedimentary stackers to take home and observe.

World Book Day

The children looked amazing dressed up in the characters from their favourite books. We had a fabulous day celebrating reading with lots of activities and even a school reading house competition.

English

We had a visitor who left some clues about our new writing text!
The children will tell you all about our new book, Jack and the Baked Beanstalk.

Science

This week in our Science lessons, the children looked at what objects make the strongest shadows. They found opaque objects make the strongest shadows and translucent objects make a weaker shadow.

Science workshop on Light

The children enjoyed a workshop all about light. They looked at different colours, how light travels and about how shadows are formed.

Science

Today, the children experimented with making shadows and learning how to make them bigger and smaller.

Maths

Today the children did another carousel of activities to help them learn and understand division by 3.

English

Here is a picture of all our wonderful writing on Frank and Stan. We really enjoyed retelling this story in our own words, changing how Frank and Stan ended the story.

Maths

The children practised their multiplication and division skills using a carousel of activities.

Maths

The children have enjoyed learning how to estimate answers this week, using their knowledge of rounding.

The Tunnel

The children enjoyed entering our classroom tunnel to look at clues about our new text; The Tunnel by Anthony Browne.

A special visit

This week, Maple  2 were visited by Donner and Blitzen. The children asked lots of questions and learnt some amazing facts about them. They were only 6 and 4 years old.

Did you know that they can jump 2 metres high into the air and their antlers grow and then fall off to start growing all over again?

Class Assembly

Our learning journey so far.

Science

This week in Science, we completed an experiment about friction. We used different materials to see which one would create the most friction against our toy car.

The carpet created the most friction and stopped the car really quickly. The whiteboard created the least amount of friction and the car zoomed by!

English

This week, in English, we had a voice note from Frank, who left us clues about who else was in the story, Frank N Stan. Here are the clues. Can you guess who else was in our story?
