The children found the most disgusting sandwich today that had been left on the playground. It had grass, sand and even some green slime in it!

Art
The children enjoyed their art day today, looking at the pop artist David Hockney. They learnt about his life, his art and created their own sketches of a landscape based on his work.

English
The children looked at different types of poems to decide which one they liked and why.
Science
The children conducted an experiment to help them understand how pollen travels on insects to other plants to make new seeds. They looked at how the dust from the cheese puffs stuck to their hand and fell onto the petals.

Geography
The children enjoyed looking at maps and atlas's to find the United Kingdom, Salford and Walkden.

English
The children were surprised by a visit from the Night Gardener to introduce our new English writing piece.

Easter
The children created some fabulous bonnets for our Easter crafts competition. Here are our three winners.
English
Today, we received a letter from Boudicca. The children wrote a letter back, promising to remember Boudicca's story and understand why she might be Britain's first British hero.
Science week
The children had a fantastic time in their Science workshop this week. They learnt about rocks and the Earth and even made sedimentary stackers to take home and observe.

World Book Day
The children looked amazing dressed up in the characters from their favourite books. We had a fabulous day celebrating reading with lots of activities and even a school reading house competition.

English
We had a visitor who left some clues about our new writing text!
The children will tell you all about our new book, Jack and the Baked Beanstalk.

Science
This week in our Science lessons, the children looked at what objects make the strongest shadows. They found opaque objects make the strongest shadows and translucent objects make a weaker shadow.
Science workshop on Light
The children enjoyed a workshop all about light. They looked at different colours, how light travels and about how shadows are formed.
Science
Today, the children experimented with making shadows and learning how to make them bigger and smaller.

Maths
Today the children did another carousel of activities to help them learn and understand division by 3.

English
Here is a picture of all our wonderful writing on Frank and Stan. We really enjoyed retelling this story in our own words, changing how Frank and Stan ended the story.

The children enjoyed entering our classroom tunnel to look at clues about our new text; The Tunnel by Anthony Browne.

A special visit
This week, Maple 2 were visited by Donner and Blitzen. The children asked lots of questions and learnt some amazing facts about them. They were only 6 and 4 years old.
Did you know that they can jump 2 metres high into the air and their antlers grow and then fall off to start growing all over again?

This week in Science, we completed an experiment about friction. We used different materials to see which one would create the most friction against our toy car.
The carpet created the most friction and stopped the car really quickly. The whiteboard created the least amount of friction and the car zoomed by!
