LEARNING to make a difference

# 14th January

Starter:

Can you remember your bonds to 20 and 100? Remember to use your bonds to 10 to help.

Write them out on your squared paper.

E.g. 20 + 0 = 20

19 + 1 = 20

18 + 2 = 20

17 + 3 = 20

Carry on the pattern and do the same with your bonds to 100.

100 + 0 = 100

90 + 10 = 100

LO: To know how to add 2-digit numbers.

Today we are going to continue adding 2-digit numbers. Remember a 2-digit number has tens and ones. For example 52 and 31 are 2-digit numbers.

You will need a pencil and square paper, your number square will also be helpful if needed (to help counting in tens).

We are going to look at 32 + 14 =

Today we are going to use another method to help us work out calculations. We are using ‘chips and peas’ Next add the tens and then the ones: altogether there are 4 tens and 6 ones.

32 + 14 = 46

Have a go at these and remember to add the tens first and then the ones.

34 + 14 =             61 + 16 =           17 + 11 =           24 + 15 =

47 + 11 =                64 + 11          72 + 12 =         37 + 11 =

If you found these ok have a go at these:

35 + 21 =       44 + 31 =      25 + 22     64 + 34 = Top
