Dear Parents / Carers,
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO FREE SCHOOL MEALS – WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
From September 2014, the government introduced Free School Meals for all children in Reception, Years 1 and 2. This type of free meal is referred to as Universal Infant Free School Meals and is totally different from the ‘Free School Meal’ as it has traditionally been known. The difference is that Universal Free School Meals are not dependant on meeting any qualifying income criteria.
If you are in receipt of Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Child Tax Credit (not working tax credit) and have an annual income that does not exceed £16,190, we would greatly appreciate you making an application for the usual ‘Free School Meals’. Our school receives Pupil Premium Funding for all children who are entitled to means tested Free School Meals. This means that your child will benefit in school not only from free school meals but free milk too.
You can make an application for Free School Meals by telephoning 0161 909 6508 or on line by logging on to Salford Council’s website and making an online application (there is a word document at the bottom of their information page along with details of what to do) using - http://www.salford.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals.htm
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0161 790 8915.
