Our class are going on an adventure to India and Nepal in order to create explorer's journals about our travels and experiences.
We will be creating information and explanation text hybrids about essential equipment needed when travelling, as well as replicating and recreating recipes for curries from India, we will follow the Darjeeling tea trail to the Himalayan mountains and write about life on base camp as well as creating a magazine article about the climb up Everest before exploring the life of Edward Hillary.
I'm sure we'll be exhausted by the end of it, but we can't wait to show you our 'backpack' journals.
We entered a world of mythical creatures and monsters and explored the tale of Beowulf and Grendel (a frightening beast). We researched myths and legends that had links to the United Kingdom and from our knowledge in Geography created our own versions of Beowulf. Some of our stories were set in London, others in Cardiff, Bristol and even Sherwoof forest with the great hero Robin Hood making an appearance!
Drama - in order to develop our use of adverbs and verbs we replicated the battle scene between Grendel and Beowulf.
If only Year 5 were in the running for an Academy Award, I'm sure there'd have been a few deserved nominations.
