Play in a Day
This term, the children took part in a 'Play in a day', we had a day filled with drama and acting. As our topic this term is 'Growth and Green Fingers' our play was called 'Powerful Plants'. We learnt about flowers and pollination and realised how important plants really are to our environment.
We got to dress up as gardeners, flowers, bees and aliens! It was all very exciting! At the end we got to perform our play to other children in the school and some of our grown ups came to watch!
Can you think of any ways that we can help keep plants safe?
As part of our topic this term all about toys, in Year 1 we got to visit Liverpool Museum and explore all the toys that they had from the past and the present.
During the trip, we were given an educational from a historian who knew all about toys. We got to order lots of different toys from oldest to newest. Some of the toys we hadn't even heard off!
We then got to play with all the different toys the historian has told us about but we had to be very careful. There were even old clothes for us to try on!
We had lovely day at Liverpool Museum!
Clay Polar Bears
As part of our topic this term we were looking at how animals are suited to different environments. We found out that animals such as meerkats have adapted their bodies to live in the desert and animals such as polar bears have adapted their polar bears to live in the arctic.
We decided that we were going to look at the features of both their bodies and create a polar bear our of clay. We tried to add details for their thick fur to keep them warm and big feet with claws to help them walk in the snow.
As part our topic we have been looking at space. In art we used lots of different materials such as cotton wool, PVA glue, crayon and chalk to create our very own moons.
