Active and Passive Voice
Miss Booth ate the cake.
Miss Booth is the subject of the sentence. She is performing the action. She is eating the cake.
The cake was eaten by Miss Booth.
The cake is the subject of the sentence. The subject is now not performing the action.
Can you re-write 'The lifeguard rescued Sam.' in the passive voice?
* Speech marks need to go around the speech.
* New speaker = new line.
* When speech starts half-way through a sentence, you need to put a comma before the speech marks.
* The punctuation mark of the speech needs to go inside the speech marks.
* The first letter in speech needs a capital letter.
Can you write the following paragraph with the correct punctuation?
I was hunting a man-cub, growled Shere Khan. His parents ran off. I saw him come this way. Give him to me! Father Wolf was not frightened. He knew that the huge tiger couldn’t squeeze into the cave. The cub is ours now he replied. You can't have him! shouted Mother Wolf.
